Beliefs
What did Leeana believe about professional interactions within kaupapa MÄori?
“ Kaupapa MÄori is fundamental to my way of being in the world, to my ways of knowing. It just is! As a result, I believe that it’s critical that I care for others and their mana in all my interactions. How I behave in my interactions reflects my values and how I care for people.
But I have also learned so much from my professional experiences, including those with PÄkehÄ colleagues. And I find myself constantly wrestling with the challenge of bridging the two worlds of kaupapa MÄori and working as a professional educator – what a colleague describes as a ‘dance in the mind’â€.
