Whakapoungākau is the mountain range.

Waingaehe is the river,

Ōwhata is the marae,

Te Roro-o-te-rangi is the hapū,

Turipuku is the chief.

And here am I, Wini Emery is my name.

I heke iho mai au i wāku maunga ko Taiarahia tērā,

Ko Putauaki ki tēnei taha,

Ko Ōhinemataroa te awa,

Ko Rangitaiki te awa ki tēnei taha,

Ko Ngāi Tūhoe te iwi,

Ko Ngāti Awa anō te iwi i tēnei taha, ā, ko Ripeka Lessels tōku ingoa.

Ripeka
I descend from my mountain which is Taiarahia,

Putauaki on one side (of my geneology),

Ōhinemataroa is the river,

Rangitaiki is the river on this side (of my geneology),

Tūhoe is the tribe,

Ngāti Awa is the tribe on this side (of my geneology), and I am Ripeka Lessels.
